RVA Hidden History Storytellers offers outdoor walking history tours focused on the offbeat and overshadowed parts of Richmond’s past. We also offer private walking tours, History Dinners, Brewing in Richmond experiences, speaking engagements, and step-on guide services.
Do you offer private tours?
Yes. Our public walking-tour subjects can be arranged for private groups, and we offer additional private-only experiences. All private events are subject to guide, venue, and partner availability. Please send an inquiry as early as possible.
Are your tours family friendly?
We consider our walking tours family friendly, but we encourage parents and guardians to use discretion. Our material is based on historical fact, and history can include war, death, injustice, and other difficult subjects. We provide context without sugar-coating the past. Contact us if you would like guidance about a particular tour.
May I bring a dog?
Leashed, well-controlled dogs are welcome on outdoor city walking tours. If a dog becomes distracting, we ask the owner to step away from the group. At cemeteries, museums, restaurants, breweries, and other private facilities, only trained service animals are permitted.
What happens if it rains?
Tours run rain or shine except in extreme weather, as determined by RVA Hidden History management. If we cancel a tour, we will contact guests and offer the choice of rescheduling or a full refund. Refunds for weather are not offered unless RVA Hidden History cancels the tour.
What is the public-tour cancellation policy?
- Public-tour tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable within 24 hours of the scheduled start time.
- With at least 24 hours’ notice, tickets may be moved to another tour one time without penalty.
- With at least 24 hours’ notice, tickets may be exchanged for a digital gift card for the full reservation value or canceled for a partial monetary refund. A 25% surcharge is withheld from monetary refunds.
- Please confirm the tour, date, and time with your entire party before booking.
What is the private-event cancellation policy?
Private reservations require a deposit. Deposits are non-refundable within seven days of the scheduled event, except when RVA Hidden History cancels because of severe weather. Schedule adjustments requested within seven days may be considered based on availability.
